Announcing “Good Bits Post-its”

A new feature on InspiredToGive shows a bulletin board of quick-hits of individuals doing something good for someone else on the fly. Each story is a generous nugget – no big organization or big money or big plan…no big whoop maybe, just an offering of a hand up to someone in need. That little bit of kindness, however, is definitely a big whoop to the recipient!

This past month during the longest-ever US government shut-down, 800,000 government workers and contractors have gone without two paychecks. Put aside the big scary bills like mortgages, car payments, school costs – what about food and gas and medicine and…daily living?

In response, this is what is happening in local neighborhoods: News feeds are filled with heartwarming stories of restaurants feeding furloughed workers (and those working for no pay), food pantries stocked by volunteers to provide for Coast Guard families, and air travelers handing TSA employees individual food and beverage cards as they pass through the checkpoints. In a crisis, regardless of political opinions, neighbors care about neighbors – and prove it, hand to hand and heart to heart.

Have you done a Good Bit for a furloughed worker or neighbor or stranger? Share it right here, we will make a Post-it…because it IS a Big Whoop!
