The hero cannot look away
There sure is a lot in our world that appears to be disturbing, even terrifying. But the hero – the hero-ness in each of us! – looks for a way to help in whatever way they can. Fred Rogers called heroes “the helpers” who show up in every tragedy, who step up and raise up with compassion and practical care. Pssst – Here is a secret that the hero knows: the hero is lifted up too! This past month we have seen a planet-full of heroes. Here are just a few.
Australia: When the world shows up on your doorstep, you know you are not alone in the fight.
American firefighters greeted with applause – and some tears – as they arrive in Sydney.
Ladies of Australian Islamic Center raised $1500 and 5 trucks full of supplies in 48 hours.
They traveled over 4 hours to feed firefighters, responders and evacuees. We are one world.
Only if we help shall all be saved.
Be kind to yourself by helping others.
“I do this so I don’t sit home all day feeling sorry for myself,” Willis told CNN. “This is all out of kindness. I do everything out of pocket and from donations.”
The outside world is in pain. Be kind. Is your own “inner world” in pain? Be kind to yourself. Kindness dissolves pain.
We, Angels and Mortals, Believers and Non-Believers,
Look heavenward and speak the word aloud.
Peace. We look at our world and speak the word aloud.
Peace. We look at each other, then into ourselves
And we say without shyness or apology or hesitation.
Peace, My Brother.
Peace, My Sister.
Peace, My Soul.
