Guess what?! November is the “2G SEASON”: Gratitude AND Generosity!
Think about it… Whenever you are grateful about some good that you received, it probably happened because someone else was first awesomely generous to you! The sequence of events is important to note. The Dalai Lama and Archbishop Tutu identify GENEROSITY as the most important quality to express in their 8 Pillars of Joy. And not because of the good bestowed on the “Give-ee” – The “Give-er” is uber-blessed because they are the initiator. You may not always be a “give-ee” – but you can ALWAYS be a “give-er.” Our stories of the past few weeks shine a light on the brilliance of Generosity.
There is so much good being done for others, but most of the time no one knows about it – because the good-givers keep their deeds to themselves. Sure, it isn’t about the recognition but helping someone else. But sometimes they get caught on camera because, well, goodness should be shared!
Thousands of Chicagoans have their unpaid medical debt erased – by thousands more Chicagoans!
Nearly 6,000 Chicagoans will receive letters this holiday season saying their unpaid medical debt is forgiven. Can you imagine the overwhelming relief and gratitude the recipient feels? Can you imagine how happy the givers are? Generosity fills the soul!
Generosity of Spirit
We put out a call to our Facebook fans to embrace California residents and firefighters in a “state of Love” during the multiple fires in October. At least 1400 of you engaged in our post – that’s a Love Army! – and gave the best of who you are, your hearts. Here is one Commenter: “God help all our firefighters…Prayers from Illinois for California firefighters and all victims.”
The Ohio State Veterinary School launched a program to provide pet care (food and checkups) for senior citizens who have family pets. “Seniors need their pets. When you live by yourself your pets mean the world to you.”
We asked, what can you do in YOUR community? So Susan, one of our FB fans replied: “Give what you can, where you can, with what you have. I’ve ended up sharing my 7-lb Emotional Suppport chihuahua with a nursing home dementia wing nearly every day at lunch now.” That’s a good-giver!
Care and Share – A happy and safe life for ALL life!
Nicola in Nottingham, UK is a retired nurse who opened a canine hospice for dying, abandoned dogs. “They just want to feel loved and safe. I really believe they should get a nice ending.” Judy joined several of our commenters in gratitude, “Thank you thank you thank you for caring so much!”
