Something Good is Happening – II

It feels like something is coming – a shift, a change, a difference – after the tragedy last week in Parkland, Florida. Among the many voices responding, InspiredToGive.org posted a recent editorial on the role of “thoughts and prayers” to impel positive action. We have received comment from folks who feel – and see – the same effect. One of our correspondents, Travis Thomas, calls this effect PRACTION (prayer + action)…we think it can be a mighty movement of thoughts and deeds.

Safety of Our Children. Ours to Do.

In the mist of shock and pain from the shooting tragedy in Parkland, Florida, clear voices are rising up and demanding, Aren’t we able to do so very much more for our children – to protect and nurture them? These are the innocent, the pure, the precious ones who keep us in awe and teach us to pause and wonder about a small insect on the ground or a new discovery at school…These dear lives deserve to be upheld and allowed to grow in goodness and care! Can we do more?

Yes we can. Praying for the children – the children in our family, our neighborhoods, our schools, our world – is a daily prayer that none of us can or should avoid or forget to do.

This is ours to do. It’s our moment to know in our hearts without a doubt that our children are the children of the divine Parent. Therefore they deserve the best wholesome, nurturing environment – the best education, the best food and water, the best safety, the best protection from abuse and misuse. And that’s not all: It’s our moment to know that we are right now the willing hands for our divine Parent who guides us, for good actions!

My favorite reformer, Mary Baker Eddy, wrote quite a bit about the power of spiritually scientific thought in consciousness and its effect on the progress of humanity. She wrote, “This movement of thought must push on the ages: it must start the wheels of reason aright…” The time is now and the demand is now, it is ours to do.
